Karen Nevins
I grew up as the daughter of an Air Force officer, so I’ve had the joy of experiencing many places: Colorado, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, and New Mexico. I wasn’t born in Texas, but I consider it HOME! Outside of school my focus is on my faith and my family. I can usually be found teaching Sunday school, cheering on the Texas Longhorns, enjoying the outdoors, being crafty, or relaxing with a good book. My family includes my husband, Chris, and my three children, Brooke-22, Claire- 19, and Reid-16.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in 1996. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management, Principal Certification, and Instructional Coaching Endorsement. After teaching preschool right out of college, I spent three years as an academic counselor at a university. I then had the blessing of staying home with my kids and during that time I pursued my teaching certificate. I was inspired by the fun, creative, engaging, and talented teachers that my kids had and I felt called to be a part of creating that kind of community. I am in my 12th year with FISD- 6 as a classroom teacher and 6 as an Instructional Coach.
