    We have received several inquiries about video recording, screen capturing, and audio recording for distance learning options.

    We currently have several options available to you through Software Center or currently licensed programs.

    If you want more in-depth training on these options, please submit a Help Request for a date and meeting time.


    Option 1: Microsoft Teams

    • Students have an Office account
    • Classes are currently synced, so no need to create classes.
    • Works online or locally installed
    • Students have access to 5 free copies of Office, including Teams.
    • Can host live chats with individuals or groups of students.
    • Can record screens for lesson and includes whiteboard tools
    • Videos are stored in Microsoft Stream and can be shared via a link.

    Option 2: Screencastify Extension

    • Easily added to Chrome
    • Record desktop, browser, or webcam
    • Unlimited recordings up to 5 mins at HD quality
    • Trim and edit videos
    • Must have a Google account to use this
    • Shareable link
    • Can be added to Teams classes and students.

    Option 3: ShotCut

    • Can be installed through Software Center
    • Powerful video editing
    • Can be exported as various video formats.

    Option 4: PowerPoint

    • PowerPoint allows screen recording and Picture-in-Picture option with a webcam
    • Support link
    • Record your slideshow and include optional webcam: Link
    • Can be uploaded to Teams and shared out with students or staff
    • Great way to build a lesson with your voice and face(optional)
    • Inking in PowerPoint is an option to digitally draw on the slides to highlight or demo problems

    Option 5: Audacity

    • Install through Software Center for FISD devices
    • Powerful audio editing tool
    • Useful for recording audio books or tests
    • Can export mp3 for easy upload to Teams or email.

    Option 6: Screencast-O-Matic

    • Install from Software Center (District device must be on campus network)
    • Record part or all of your screen
    • Narrate with microphone
    • Option for webcam recording
    • Add music and captions
    • Free version limits to 15mins in length
    • Save to your computer
    • Upload recordings to Microsoft Stream then link to Teams
    • You can upgrade service, but costs personal money
